There was a time when all I had was glimpses of your face
And now I have a little more, a shadow of your grace
But though I wish for even more, I find I cannot gain
A piece of you beyond my worth too precious to contain
And so I sit and wonder if we could ever be
Closer than we are so far across this earthen sea.
I find you in my dreams, you seep into my mind
You hide yourself within my thought before and then behind
And so I sing this lover’s song, a poem from the heart
I hope against the tide of time that we may never part.
And when I see the sun rise up beyond the furthest land
It whispers fragrant thoughts of you that fall upon this sand
My God hath made a single form so beautiful I pause
To think of how you came to be and glory at your Cause
May Father grant me all I ask, for all I ask is you
That we may be together here beneath the spreading blue.
